Madekwe was raised by an ethnically diverse family. Her father is Nigerian and Swiss as well as her mother is English. She grew up in the south of a London council estate and attended The Brit School at age fourteen. The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art is where she obtained the BA in acting. Madekwe was a part of the comedy How to Lose Friends and alienate others (2008). Her theatre credits include Little Sweet Thing or Roy Williams and Flight Path of David Watson.
Madekwe made her official US debut on the drama series The Beautiful Life, which was only broadcast in the US on The CW before being cancelled. She was cast in February 2011, as Ashley Davenport on the ABC drama Revenge. Madekwe was a regular on the ABC drama series Revenge in two episodes. The show was announced in May 2013 that she'd be leaving the series following an appearance in the very first episode of season three. On the show Salem, she played Tituba between 2014 and 2016. Madekwe and her boyfriend of many years, Iddo Goldenberg, were wed in June of 2012. They have worked together on Secret Diary of a Call Girl as well as he is also a part of the cast on the TV show Salem.

Ashley Leggat is a Gemini-nominated actor who was raised by the large family. Her parents were Patty and Roy Leggat. Ashley won the best soloist honor at each major dance competition, including International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance among the few.
